Retina & Vitreoretinal Care

Vishal Eye Center is one of North India's few centers with advanced vitreoretinal expertise — diagnosing and treating complex conditions of the retina, from diabetic changes and retinal detachment to macular disease, under a fellowship-trained retina specialist.

Protecting the light-sensitive heart of your eye

The retina is the delicate, light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye that turns what you see into signals for the brain. When it is damaged — by diabetes, ageing, injury or detachment — sight can be threatened quickly, so expert care matters.

Dr. Vishal Rajan Sharma completed a clinical fellowship in Retina at the University of California and vitreo-retina training at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai — bringing world-class retinal surgery to Yamunanagar and the surrounding region.

We diagnose with high-resolution OCT and fluorescein angiography, and treat with injections, laser and vitreoretinal surgery as needed.

Conditions we treat

  • Diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular oedema
  • Retinal detachment and retinal tears
  • Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
  • Retinal vein and artery occlusions
  • Vitreous haemorrhage and floaters needing assessment

Advanced diagnostics

Accurate retinal care starts with clear imaging. Our spectral OCT captures cross-sections of the retina in microscopic detail, while fluorescein angiography (FFA) maps blood flow to pinpoint leaks and blockages. Together they let us diagnose early and treat with precision.

Why choose a fellowship-trained retina specialist

Retinal surgery is among the most demanding areas of ophthalmology. Having a fellowship-trained specialist locally means families no longer have to travel to distant cities for complex retina treatment — it is available here in Jagadhri.

FAQ

Questions about retina treatment

What are the warning signs of a retinal problem?

Sudden floaters, flashes of light, a shadow or curtain across your vision, or a sudden drop in sight all need urgent assessment. Early treatment often makes the difference in saving vision.

Are intravitreal injections painful?

The eye is numbed thoroughly beforehand, so the injection causes only brief pressure. It is a routine, quick procedure done in a sterile setting, and you can usually go home soon after.

Is retinal detachment an emergency?

Yes. A detaching retina needs prompt surgical attention — the sooner it is repaired, the better the chance of preserving sight. Call us immediately if you notice sudden shadows or a curtain over your vision.

How often should diabetics have a retina check?

At least once a year with a dilated examination, or sooner if advised. Diabetic changes are often silent in early stages, so regular screening is the best protection.
